Yesterday, Tuesday, Roli and Hans took us on a weeeeeee trip into the country and boy what a trip it was. The weather had turned over the weekend but Hans assured us that Tuesday would be perfect so we planned a trip to see the Eiger and to have lunch at the revolving restaurant on top of the world.

I can't begin to tell you how we got there but here is a sort of guide, maybe Hans will fill in the towns for me LOL.

Train from Zurich to Bern
another train from Bern to ?
another train from ? to ?
another train from ? to ?
another train from ? to Murien
a bus from Murien to the cable car
cable car to cable car
cable car to cable car
cable car to cable and we made it.

WOW

Coming home was a bit simpler as we did cable car to cable car to cable car to train to boat to train to tram and home - see easy.

To say we were impressed with the public transport in this country is the understatement of the century. Everything works like clock work and is onetime, clean and the staff are more than helpful.

Through all those changes the longest wait was 35 minutes for the boat, everything else changed within 5 minutes - extraordinary.

Now I am pleading total innocence about the latest disaster. Rumour has it that where moi goes disaster follows and welllllllll last night the main hot water system for Zurich blew up, yep half of Zurich with cold water and that included us. I didn't do it, really. I had a cold shower at 6 this morning, do you think I am that stupid to do that to myself - I am pleading the 5th.

Arrived in Cairo today and what different place this is LOL. When we flew in the pyramids were still standing (I think) Hans has put them on disaster alert while  we are in the country.

I have not done the revolving restaurant up there, and I suspect it would be pretty spectacular. There are two lesser known features in that area that you might get a chance to see. 1st is the Trumelbach Falls (Trümmelbachfälle). Between Lauterbrunnen and Murren. It is a big water fall with the added extra that it is actually inside a mountain. Amazing place, but take a raincoat. 2nd is slightly less touristy. On a hilside just outside Lauterbrunnen looking across the valley to the Murren falls. There is a very large old tree up on the hillside. On a low slung branch you might find the tiniest mark that is the remnant of a long rotted away walking stick. That was where I made the committment to learn to walk without the walking sticks when I was recovering from the rebuilds in the eighties!! I don't know if they have put up signposts and a commemorative plaque yet?????

OK here we go, from Bern by train to Interlaken, then another train to Lauterbrunnen where Bruce lost his walking stick, then by bus to Stechelberg, by cable car to Gimmelwald, thats the part you never saw except the floor of the cabin and when you counted the dead fly on the floor. Change to another cable car to Muerren, from there to Birg, change again to the next CABLE CAR and the last leg to Schilthorn. Lunch up there and down to Muerren, walk to the station, by train to Gruetschalp, cable car to Lauterbrunnen, train to Interlaken, train to Spiez, boat to Thun, Train from there as you said. But you forgot the part in Spiez at the restaurant, remember you stole my dessert ??? To proof it I put a pic in my blog, and no excuse will you ever got out of that one just like when I backgammon you in anti gammon. LOL LOL LOL Tried to keep that one quiet ??? No hope my dear LOL LOL LOL
